A pretty good turnout although.conditions were cool and breezy which made for an interesting event.
The results of the 3 lap TT were as follows:
1. Matt Benson 14.52
2. Lee Rasheed 17.24
3. Mick Gray 17.55
4. Glen O'Brien 18.15
5. Terry Bond 18.20
6. Ruth Strout 18.35
7. Clayton Bond 19.31
8. Pete Weston 19.58
9. Angelo Ylia 19.59
10. Gordon Lawton 23.36
It was then decided to hold a 10 lap handicap comprised of the following groups:
Limit - Angelo Ylia, Clayton Bond, Peter Weston
5 mins - Glen O'Brien and Terry Bond
8 mins - Lee Rasheed and Mick Gray
14 mins - Matthew Benson
As it turned out, the work was in front of all the chasing groups as the limit bunch of Angelo, Clayton and Pete worked well together. Matt Benson rode a great race averaging 38 and rounded up the other groups with 2 laps to go however he was unable to catch the front runners. Glen, Terry, Lee and Mick worked tirelessly in their respective groups but could not make headway in the difficult conditions and finished much as they had started.
The fresh legs of youngster Clayton Bond were too
strong in the end as he attacked on the final straight to take a
comfortable victory by 100 metres. Pete and Angelo would take out the
minor placings with Matt a further minute back recording fastest time.
Final positions were:
1st Clayton Bond
2nd Peter Weston
3rd Angelo Ylia
4th Matthew Benson (FT)
5th Terry Bond
6th Glen O'Brien
7th Lee Rasheed
DNF Mick Gray
