Winkie Handicap
14th Jun, 2015

10 members turned out this morning to compete in the Winkie handicap in perfect cycling conditions.
Matt Benson was the first and fortunately only casualty of the day puncturing on lap 1. The group of Stevens, Boase and Jaensch were set the task of chasing all front runners and caught Mick Gray on the 3rd Lap. Mick hung in well all race and provided his trademark lead out with about 1km to go. Gordon Lawton started holidays early  and was thinking of the warm weather in Darwin and was unable to hold off the groups behind. He had a crack at the handicapper however this was simply filed away for future reference! The fast finishing chopping block group fell short by approx 150m in the end to the Group of Ylia, Weston, Headlam and Bond.
A terrific sprint by Terry Bond saw him take out the major prize in what was I believe his first win.
