Conditions were fantastic for the 12 eager riders of varying ability, age & gender turned up to race!
On limit was Peter Weston & Sue Lahainer. Next off was Gordon Pipe, Angelo Ylia & Glen Obrien departing at the 3minute mark. At 5 minutes Lee Rasheed took off on his own, only after missing his own start by 25 seconds! At the 9 minute mark we had 2 groups with Gordon Lawton, Clayton Bond (first time road racer) & Tyler Stevens (accompanied by his grandfather Roy) would have to complete 3 laps without being caught! The other group to depart was Lee Stevens & Shane Pitman who had the full 4 laps to complete. The last to set off was Colby Jachmann & Matt Benson riding off at 13minutes.
Sue Lahainer & Peter Weston were picked up by Gordon Pipe, Angelo Ylia & Glen Obrien. They were all together when Lee Rasheed, Lee Stevens & Shane Pitman gathered them up. This was on the 3rd lap & just before Matt Benson who had disposed of Colby caught the whole group! The group stayed together for a short period before Matt Benson made his way to the front & attacked. The group splintered immediately with only Shane Pitman & Lee Stevens to get onto Matt’s wheel. However Gordon Lawton & new comer Clayton Bond were still out in front. They had disposed of Tyler Stevens earlier.
Matt Benson in blistering form dragged Pitman & Stevens along & proceeded to catch & dispose of Gordon Lawton & Clayton bond with about 1/3 lap to go! Now in the lead Benson just had to leave enough in the tank to take care of Pitman & Stevens. Unfortunately Stevens got caught on the last corner  by giving way to a car which was the correct & safest decision. Benson & Pitman rode away with Benson riding the legs off of Pitman to take a great win. Matt averaged 39.5kmh on his own, wow!
